The Canadian Women’s Hockey League is excited to announce that hockey guru Kevin Huhn has been named manager of player recruitment. His new role will include leading the annual CWHL Draft, developing camps for player prospects and streamlining recruitment across all five teams in the league.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to bring Kevin on board as our new manager of player recruitment,” CWHL commissioner Brenda Andress said. “His incredible business expertise, wealth of hockey knowledge and passion for helping others will be pivotal in our league development, as we continue to fulfill our vision of being the place to play for the top women’s hockey players in the world.”
Originally from Montreal, Que., and now living in Markham, Ont., Huhn has more than three decades of experience working in hockey, including professional and junior levels, and within leagues such as the Central Hockey League, Southern Professional Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League and Ontario Hockey Association. His varied hockey expertise include coaching, scouting and business development.
Several industries, ranging from finance to telecommunications to travel, have had the opportunity to experience Huhn’s commitment and determination, qualities applied to writing his most recent book, Hockey-ology: The Ultimate Guide to Fun and Success for Minor Hockey, and evident in his co-production and co-hosting of the radio and TV show The Hockey Source.
"I am excited to be a part of the CWHL, a league which continues to deliver on improving the quality of hockey for women,” Huhn said. “Ever since I started coaching at the age of 18, I have been committed to helping people in this great game, at all levels.”
